I’m joining stratovarius and I need a guitar…
I’d rather support a small company….
My path with Matias crossed first time before his Stratovarius days. His friend Perttu Vänskä had ordered a guitar from us earlier on, and Matias had liked it quite a bit. I recall we did a setup to his PRS guitar and he was happy with our work.
Time went by… and then one day I got a call from Matias. He told he had been asked to join Stratovarius, and he needs a guitar.
Some of the big brands had offered already endorsement to him, but he said he’d rather buy a guitar from cause he likes what we’re doing, and he wants a genuinely unique guitar. He also mentioned he’d rather support a small company like us.
Hats off!
Well, hats off to Matias. That was a pretty respectable attitude, I’d say. I told him we would support his work the best way we can. We can’t give away guitars like factories do.
Our support is different – we make sure that every guitar is built top notch from tip to toe, and that professional players can rely on our instruments in their work.
Matias has come back to order more guitars – and that to me is the ultimate proof that we’re doing our job right.
Finnish power metal
Stratovarius is a Finnish power metal band formed in 1984. Their material contains elements of power metal and symphonic metal. To this day the band has sold over 2.5 million records worldwide. Timo Tolkki played guitar in the band since 1995 until 2008, when he officially resigned. Later on the same year the band announced that the new guitarist would be Matias Kupiainen.
Matias has studied in Helsinki at Sibelius Academy and Pop & Jazz Conservatory. He has worked as a session musician, among others, on albums of Olavi Uusivirta and Milana Music, and worked as producer and recording engineer as well.
