Saku Mattila

Presidential versatility

Countless projects
Saku continues to amaze me with his super versatile skills and wonderful, humble attitude towards life and making music. Saku is a professional freelance musician and guitar teacher from Helsinki. He has studied in Sibelius Academy jazz department and Pop Jazz Conservatory, and he has worked over the years in countless projects – theater, sessions, television – and played in bands such as Leningrad Cowboys or Wheel.

The Independence Day Ball
Every year on December 6th, Finland celebrates its’ independence day. In the core of the festivities is the traditional Presidential Independence Day Reception, held at the Presidential Palace. Approximately 2000 guests are invited to this luxurious party, and millions more (including myself) gather at our television sets every year to catch a glimpse of the glamorous festivities – amongst them Saku playing his Duke. The guitar actually fits like a glove to this noble occasion – thanks to the name and the snow white color!

Jay Jay French - Twisted Sister
"Me and the Duke, we’re pals. This guitar has been my main instrument since I bought it (2006), and I’m really happy with it. If I do an all-around gig and can bring only one guitar, it’s always the Duke. And wherever I go, I keep getting compliments of how great the guitar sounds and looks."
