Be A Mermaid
In 2023, BenBen released the EP “Be A Mermaid” on Perpetual Doom records, with a debut LP on the way. BenBen’s last band, New Beard, worked with legendary Swedish psychedelic-rock genius Gustav Ejstes of Dungen. BenBen has toured with acts ranging from Band of Horses to The Indigo Girls, and has long contributed to the recordings of indie-folk goddess Samantha Crain, co-writing the single “Garden Dove,” a single from her beloved 2020 album A Small Death.
My Excalibur
The Jubilee VSOP
Since 2005, BenBen has played a Ruokangas VSOP Supreme with a very special hidden “Jubilee” inlay. “The Jubilee VSOP is my Excalibur. Some of my greatest songs were written or recorded with it, and it is the most radiant physical embodiment of the kind of otherworldly magic and mythic-level ornate craft I try to bring to my music,” BenBen says of the guitar. “Every time I pull it out of its case, I feel connected to all the love that goes into Juha’s immaculate craft. He’s not only one of the sweetest human beings, but also the closest thing I’ll ever meet in this lifetime to a genuine Elven maker of magical artifacts! Playing this guitar, I’m reminded that I have many more wandering quests ahead of me!”
Album Release Ahead!
BenBen is looking forward to releasing his first solo LP in Fall 2023 on Perpetual Doom, as well as bringing his music to Northern Europe this summer.
