Revontulet – the northern lights
Aurora Borealis has been worshipped and feared by humankind throughout millennia. The Cree tribe and Eskimos, among other Indigenous peoples, believed this mysterious phenomenon in the skies was a way of summoning the dead and communicating with their ancestors. Similarly, in Finnish Kalevala mythology, the Northern Lights—Revontulet in Finnish—were referred to as a portal between the living and the dead.
The grain pattern of figured Arctic Birch often appears as if lit from within, shifting and shimmering with the light. This inspired our Northern Lights finish—to capture a slice of the fleeting beauty of the Arctic Finnish sky into the fibers of your guitar.
