A handshake between eras

Bridging generations
This guitar represents a moment where distinct eras of Ruokangas guitar evolution meet, shake hands, and recognize their shared legacy. What does that mean? It brings together signature elements that define us: the pairing of figured arctic birch and Spanish cedar, known as the classic Ruokangas tone since the 1990s; the use of thermally aged tonewoods, introduced in 1999; the two-step carved headstock featured across all our instruments; and those carefully shaped half-dome fret ends, once a rarity among luthiers.

Then there are the pickups—bridging generations. At the bridge is Harry Häussel’s BigMag singlecoil, a trusted choice in countless Mojo guitars over the years, paired with our latest addition, the Ruokangas Aino neck humbucker. And what a beautiful match they make!

Playful controls and enhanced tonal palette
When Jyrki worked on this guitar, he created a playful control layout that expands the instrument’s tonal versatility even further. Check out the control layout image in the photo gallery below.

A couple of clarifications on the controls: the 5-way switch offers various combinations between the two pickups, utilizing both humbucker coils wired in series (standard humbucker tone) and parallel (single-coil-like sound, but hum-canceling). Additionally, we’ve replaced the traditional tone pot with a three-way rotary switch. One position acts as a no-load tone pot; rotated fully to the other end, it provides a mellow tone similar to a rolled-off tone pot. The middle position introduces our special ‘Lassi-Fier’ mode, borrowed from the new Sisu guitar. This mode emphasizes the mids, creating a “slightly cocked wah pedal” tone—excellent for distortion and uniquely effective at cutting through the mix.
