The first ever guitar available with the X-Lok 2.0 whammy freeze switch!

You may have seen our guitars in the hands of Matias Kupiainen of Stratovarius. Matias has played our guitars for a long time, and his signature guitar model has one special feature that we’ve been asked about quite a bit over the years. It’s called the X-Lok – a Finnish invention, a system that freezes the locking whammy, so Matias can use the EVH D-Tuna on the fly, even in the middle of a song if needed. In Matias’s guitars the locking mechanism is operated with a thumbwheel – a few turns locks the whammy, and a few turns the other way releases it – that’s the original version of the X-Lok, that never has become commercially available.

What you see in this Hellcat Classic is the X-Lok 2.0, an improved version that is lighting fast to use, lighter weight, and requires less wood to be removed for installation. You can see the X-Lok in action in the video below!
